My lovely new OLD typewriter!

Hi Peeps

Welcome to my new blog all about the ongoing changes to my home.

I really like the rustic style of old cottages, and would love to live in one by the sea, but that's not likely to happen any time soon, so I've decided to try and bring a little of the rustic country style that I love, to the place that I live.

I'd like to start off by showing you an old typewriter that I picked up on Ebay recently. It was covered in dust and muck when I collected it from the seller, but I've started to clean it up a bit, and am currently trying to learn how to fix it up properly, and make it work again if I can.

As I haven't posted on any of my other blogs for quite some time, I'm going to have to learn all about how things work, so I hope you will bear with me while I find my feet again. In the meantime, here is a pic of the typewriter.

If you happen to know anything about this make of typewriter, I would love to hear from you. I think it's a Royal 10, but several things don't really add up, for instance, it has one metal, and one glass side panel, but the glass has been painted over, and there are no decals on the back as I believe there should be. It also appears to be black underneath so I think that's probably how it started off, and someone at some point has decided to give it a face lift.

I particularly fancied an old typewriter for two reasons, the first is that I was/am a secretary by trade, the second is that I want to teach my grandchildren as much as I can about things that were around while I was growing up. They saw the typewriter this afternoon for the first time, and couldn't wait to get their mitts on it, lol. So my aim is to at the very least get it up and working so that they can really try it out.

Thanks for looking and for any feedback you might leave.
